Mighty Blackpool Chairman Denies Neglect Claims After Death of Former Winger Bureh “Ganso” Koroma

The Chairman of Mighty Blackpool Football Club, Rodney Michael, on Monday 24th November 2025, dismissed allegations that the club failed to support former winger Bureh “Ganso” Koroma during his illness.
Speaking on the Epic Sports Show, Michael confirmed that Koroma remained on the club’s payroll until his death and continued to receive his monthly salary. He said the only outstanding payment was for October. However, Koroma died in the early hours of today, a loss that has sent shockwaves across the football community.
“We never abandoned or neglected Bureh,” Michael said. “We were in constant communication with him, and the club stood by him throughout. His death is a painful loss to Mighty Blackpool and to Sierra Leone football family.”
Michael described the late midfielder as a talented and committed player whose contributions significantly shaped the club’s recent seasons.
Tributes from fans, former teammates, and football officials have continued to pour in, praising Koroma’s skill and humility. Mighty Blackpool officials are expected to participate in funeral arrangements with the family.
