A coalition of tribal chiefs in the Western Region has crowned All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant, Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, as Chief during a ceremony held at Malta Street, Freetown.
The event brought together leaders from four prominent local tribes—Limba, Soso, Loko, and Themne—who jointly endorsed Jagaban and recognized his contributions to national development and respect for traditional values.
Chief Pa Alimamy Kama Kargbo presented Jagaban with a symbolic traditional crown and an honorary doctorate. Pa Komrabai Kai Gbla I further conferred a chieftaincy title, affirming the chiefs’ unified support.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing chiefs, Chief Ya Alimamy Sebba Turay described the gathering as a show of appreciation for Jagaban’s service to the nation. “We came together as four tribes to commend Jagaban for his good work towards national development,” she said, adding that the communities also look forward to benefiting from his J. Impact Charity Foundation.
In his acceptance speech, Jagaban expressed surprise at the turnout of chiefs and praised their role in community governance. “You are playing a very vital role in the day-to-day affairs of your communities, but today, tradition is no longer respected and you are facing many difficulties,” he said.
Jagaban pledged that, if elected president, he would restore the authority of traditional leaders and ensure they benefit from his foundation. He further vowed to invest his entire monthly salary into the J. Impact Charity Foundation, emphasizing that his presidential ambition is driven by service rather than personal gain.
The chiefs highlighted unity, peace, and cultural pride as the qualities they expect from future national leadership, noting that their endorsement of Jagaban reflects a commitment to those values.
