APC Convenes Emergency Meeting Over Proposed Electoral Commission Appointment

The All People’s Congress (APC) has announced an emergency meeting involving its top elected officials and members of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) to deliberate on recent national developments.
According to a public notice dated 23rd February 2026 and issued by the party’s National Secretariat, the meeting will focus on the proposed appointment of Mr. Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).
The notice states that all NAC members, regional and district chairpersons, Members of Parliament, mayors, chairpersons, and councillors are required to attend.

The emergency meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 24th February 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the APC Party Headquarters, We Yone Building, Old Railway Line, Freetown.
Attendance has been described as mandatory, with the party emphasizing the meeting’s “critical national and institutional importance.”
The notice was issued and signed by the APC National Secretary-General.
