Model Zainab Sheriff Arrested, Detained at CID Headquarters in Freetown
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Sierra Leone Police has confirmed the arrest of prominent model and actress Zainab Sheriff, who is currently being held at the CID Headquarters in Freetown.
A senior CID source told this medium that Sheriff was arrested in the early hours of Friday and remains in police custody. According to police sources, she has declined to make any statement to investigators pending the arrival of her legal representatives.
Sheriff, who is widely known in entertainment circles and publicly associated with the opposition All People’s Congress (APC), was earlier this week declared wanted by police.
In a wanted notice issued last week, the police stated: “SUSPECT, ZAINAB SHERIFF HAS BEEN DECLARED WANTED BY THE SIERRA LEONE POLICE FOR AN ALLEGED CASE OF THREATENING LANGUAGE, INCITEMENT AND OTHER RELATED OFFENCES.”
Police have not yet released further details regarding the specific nature of the allegations or when she is expected to make her first court appearance.
