APC Releases Roadmap for 2026 Internal Elections and Conventions

By Aminata Kamara

The All Peoples Congress(APC) has unveiled a detailed timetable for its 2026 internal elections and conventions, marking a key step in reorganizing the party ahead of the next general elections.

In a statement dated January 15, 2026, the party’s National Secretariat said the schedule follows the re-publication of APC election rules by the Political Parties Regulation Commission(PPRC) earlier this month. The revised dates will guide the selection of party leadership from ward level through to the National Delegates’ Conference.

According to the roadmap, the process begins immediately with the publication of membership registers and will proceed using a bottom-up approach to internal democracy.

The timetable also sets dates for Special Organs, including the Women’s Congress, Veterans Congress, and Young Congress.

To broaden participation, the APC has incorporated its diaspora chapters into the process. Diaspora branches will take part at constituency and district levels, while Regional Conventions will include the “Diaspora Sixth Region.” Affiliate groups such as the National Union of APC Students and the Persons with Disability Wing are expected to have their delegates’ lists published on February 22, 2026.

Party officials say gazetting the rules through the PPRC is intended to strengthen transparency and legal certainty, helping to reduce disputes that have affected previous internal elections.

The National Secretariat has urged party members and the public to take note of the dates as the APC prepares for an intensive schedule in the first half of 2026.
