Sierra Leone Aquatics Pays Courtesy Call on Newly Appointed NSA Executive Director

The Sierra Leone Aquatics Association (SLA) has paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq., at the Authority’s headquarters at Signal Hill in Freetown.
The visit brought together members of the Association’s Executive Committee, technical team, coaches and national swimmers, reflecting the unity and shared commitment of the Aquatics family towards the growth of sports in Sierra Leone.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Reginald Brian Ojukutu Sawyerr, Public Relations Officer 1 of Sierra Leone Aquatics, thanked Mr. Conteh for warmly receiving the delegation despite his demanding schedule. He congratulated him on his appointment as Executive Director of the National Sports Authority and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the institution to greater heights.
Mr. Sawyerr also introduced the members of the delegation, comprising the Association’s executives, technical officials and national swimmers, noting that the visit was not only to congratulate the Executive Director but also to reaffirm Sierra Leone Aquatics’ commitment to working closely with the NSA in advancing aquatic sports across the country.
President of Sierra Leone Aquatics, Mr. Mohamed Abdul Turay, thanked the Executive Director for the warm welcome and briefed him on the Association’s recent achievements and ongoing programmes. He highlighted the steady progress the Association has made in athlete development, technical training and international participation, despite the challenges facing the sport.
As part of the briefing, Mr. Turay proudly introduced the athletes and officials who will represent Sierra Leone at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, describing the opportunity as another important milestone for the Association and the country.
Responding, Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq. expressed his appreciation to the Sierra Leone Aquatics delegation for the thoughtful visit and congratulated the Association on its continued efforts to develop the sport. He praised the leadership for investing in young athletes and flying Sierra Leone’s flag on the international stage.
The NSA Executive Director assured the delegation of the Authority’s continued support, emphasizing that his office remains open to working with all sporting associations to promote excellence and create more opportunities for athletes.
He encouraged the swimmers and officials heading to the Commonwealth Games to remain focused, disciplined and committed, reminding them that they would be carrying the hopes and pride of Sierra Leone wherever they compete.
The courtesy visit ended with both the National Sports Authority and Sierra Leone Aquatics reaffirming their commitment to strengthening collaboration in developing aquatic sports and nurturing the next generation of champions for Sierra Leone.
