20 Muslims Benefit from ‘Jagaban’ 2026 Hajj Scholarship

APC Flagbearer aspirant Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, as of the 18th May 2026, has awarded Hajj scholarships to 20 Muslims across Sierra Leone to enable them to perform this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
Speaking during the ceremony, the National Spokesman for the Jagaban Movement, Saidu Gibrill Buzzom Kamara, said Jagaban has been supporting Muslims across the country for many years, especially those wishing to travel to Mecca for Hajj.
He explained that about 20 Muslims benefited from the scholarship this year, adding that the selection process was done at the district level.
Saidu Gibrill Buzzom Kamara also clarified that the scholarship has nothing to do with Jagaban’s political ambition.
According to him, the initiative was meant to support fellow Muslims who could not afford the cost of travelling for Hajj by themselves.
He further stated that beneficiaries came from different walks of life.
He added that each beneficiary also received 500 US dollars as pocket money for the journey.
He concluded by saying that Jagaban is preparing to give the pilgrims a grand welcome when they return from Hajj.
Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries from Masiaka Town, Daud Ibrahim Beneh, described 2026 as one of the happiest years of his life, saying he feels blessed to be among those selected for the Jagaban Hajj Scholarship.
He noted that performing Hajj is the dream of every Muslim, and thanked Jagaban for allowing them to fulfil that religious obligation.
Daud Ibrahim Beneh explained that many of them could not afford the high cost of the journey on their own, adding that Jagaban’s support has brought great relief to them.
He also praised Jagaban for showing commitment to religion and humanity, while encouraging other well-meaning people to support those in need.
He ended by encouraging people who did not benefit this year not to lose hope, expressing confidence that they may also benefit from the scholarship in the future.
