ACC to Auction Luxury Seaside Properties Linked to Unexplained Wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced plans to auction or dispose by private treaty three luxury properties linked to unexplained wealth cases involving officials at the National Revenue Authority (NRA), as part of efforts to recover billions of leones lost to corruption.
ACC Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala disclosed that the properties were confiscated following a court order under Sierra Leone’s unexplained wealth laws. Among the assets is a high-end, three-storey seaside mansion equipped with modern electronic security systems, smart-home technology, and a penthouse offering panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Commissioner said the sale of the properties would follow professional valuation to determine reserved prices before the auction or private treaty process begins. Proceeds from the disposal will be paid into the Consolidated Fund for the benefit of the state and its citizens.
According to the ACC, the move forms part of its ongoing asset recovery strategy aimed at depriving corrupt individuals of illicit gains and strengthening accountability in public service. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to aggressively pursue unexplained wealth cases and recover stolen public funds in line with President Julius Maada Bio’s anti-corruption drive.
The ACC added that further details on the auction process would be made public after valuation and completion of all legal requirements.
