AGL Reinforces Commitment to Education with School Supplies Donation
The General Manager of African Global Logistics (AGL), Mr. Maroon Ablaad, has reaffirmed the company’s dedication to education as a core focus of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This pledge was demonstrated through the donation of 1,000 school bags, books, pens, pencils, and dictionaries to community stakeholders in Freetown.
The donation event, held on November 19, 2024, at AGL’s Freetown Terminal office, marked the company’s global Solidarity Day. Ablaad emphasized that education is central to AGL’s mission, describing it as a lifelong investment in human development. “While other investments may fade, education lasts for generations,” he said.
Captain Fabjanko Kokan, AGL’s Regional Managing Director for Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone, echoed this sentiment, calling education “the best tool to transform society.” He urged other businesses to join in advancing education through their CSR programs.
Community leaders expressed gratitude for AGL’s ongoing support. Peter Bayoku Conteh from Koinadugu District highlighted the company’s funding of a primary school for 500 children in Yagala village. Abu Bakarr Barrie, Chairman of the MoWharf community in Freetown, praised AGL’s consistent assistance, including scholarships and Ramadan food aid.
AGL’s continued investment in education underscores its commitment to creating lasting, positive change in Sierra Leone, ensuring that future generations have access to the resources they need to thrive.
