Bai Bureh Warriors strengthened their position in the Leone Rock Premier League while dealing a significant blow to SLIFA FC’s fight against relegation with a commanding 2-0 victory at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom.
The visitors took control of the contest in the 40th minute when Sampha Kamara opened the scoring after being set up by Santigie Kamara, giving Bai Bureh Warriors a deserved lead before the halftime break.
Bai Bureh Warriors doubled their advantage in the 60th minute as Koliko P. Haba calmly finished from an Albert Turay assist to seal all three points.
SLIFA FC struggled to create clear-cut chances throughout the match and were further frustrated after Bainous Bangura received the game’s only yellow card in the 13th minute. There were no red cards in an otherwise disciplined encounter.
Bai Bureh Warriors goalkeeper Amara Kamara delivered an outstanding performance between the posts to keep a clean sheet and was deservedly named Man of the Match.
The result leaves SLIFA FC rooted in 15th place on 37 points, with their Premier League survival hopes hanging by a thread. Their fate will now rest on the outcome of their final league fixture against Old Edwardians, where they must produce a positive result while hoping other results go in their favour.
For Bai Bureh Warriors, the victory is another important step in finishing the season on a strong note as they claimed a well-earned three points on the road.
