Cricket Sierra Leone Launches Women’s League with Opening Matches
Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) has unveiled its Women’s T20 Premier League on Saturday, November 24, 2024, with two exciting matches at the Prince of Wales School Oval. Featuring eight teams, the league aims to elevate women’s cricket and foster gender equality in the sport.
The opening match saw Crusaders face Mid-West in a tight contest. Crusaders posted 50/5 in 10 overs, but Mid-West chased it down with 51/2 in just 5.4 overs, winning by 8 wickets.
In the second game, Correctional Females dominated Newton. Scoring 106/2 in 10 overs, they restricted Newton to 52/5, claiming victory by 54 runs.
The league marks a milestone for women’s cricket in Sierra Leone, showcasing talent and providing higher-level competition. Running alongside the Western Area Inter-Secondary School Cricket Championship, it highlights the growing enthusiasm for cricket among young women.
