Communications Director of Electricity Distributions and Supply Authority, Sahr Nepor has said they are working to fix the electricity crisis in the capital in the next 48 hours. Nepor was speaking on the Epic Morning Show on Monday, in response to the growing concerns about the unavailability of electricity.

When asked about the timeline to fixing the current outages, Nepor said: “the purification process is almost complete by the end of today (Monday) we will be doing some tests, so hopefully by tomorrow (Tuesday) everything will be ok”

Nepor said they had to resort to load shedding throughout the festivities just to satisfy the “growing demand for electricity”.

EDSA and the Ministry of Energy have been under fire for massive blackouts that have characterized the festivities. EDSA reported that an attack on their Kingtom evacuation station damaged a transformer and it repairs had since been going on.

“We had to order for oil and that arrived last week, maintenance work on these machines takes time and it is very technical” Nepor said.

His assurances about a 48 hour window of completion will be weighed with caution, haven already pushed their timeline on fixing the original problem since Christmas day.

A press release at the time by EDSA promised to fix the blackout situation in one or two days, two weeks later the power outages has continued.
