Jagaban Strikes Landmark Bus Deal to Boost Rural Transport in Sierra Leone

In a bold move to overhaul Sierra Leone’s rural transportation network, prominent APC politician and businessman Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara popularly known as Jagaban has sealed a major bus procurement deal with China’s renowned manufacturer, Golden Dragon.
The agreement, finalized during Jagaban’s official business tour to the People’s Republic of China, will see a fleet of modern buses delivered to Sierra Leone, with a specific focus on rural and underserved areas.
“This is a turning point for Sierra Leone’s rural development and a solid step toward national progress,” Jagaban remarked at the signing ceremony. “Reliable transport isn’t a luxury it’s the foundation for economic growth and social inclusion.”
Revamping the road ahead, the initiative is part of Jagaban’s larger vision to modernize public transport across the country. Once deployed, the buses are expected to reduce travel time, improve connectivity, and ease access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and markets in remote areas.
Jagaban’s deal with Golden Dragon comes on the heels of his earlier achievement, the launch of Jagaban Okada, the country’s first motorbike assembly plant. That project, already underway, is creating local jobs and expanding mobility for citizens nationwide.
Economic Gains and Job Creation beyond mobility, the bus deal is set to stimulate job creation on multiple fronts. Local technicians, drivers, and maintenance personnel will benefit from training programs and employment linked to the initiative. Additional opportunities are anticipated through expanded logistics and transport support services.
