Massive Floods Devastate Chad
Chad, already grappling with recurring food crises, is now hit by severe floods following torrential rains across all 23 provinces. The disaster has claimed over 500 lives and left thousands of families homeless, as more than 400,000 hectares of farmland are destroyed, worsening food insecurity in a country where hunger affects 3.4 million people.
Infrastructure, including roads and bridges, is submerged, hindering access for relief workers. Pregnant women, especially vulnerable, are in makeshift camps without adequate healthcare. In response, 248 midwives have been deployed to offer emergency care, and hygiene kits have been distributed to 12,000 women and girls.
