Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr Featured in Forbes 50 Sustainable Leaders
Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has been featured in Forbes’ inaugural list of 50 Sustainability Leaders. The list celebrates global figures from diverse fields, including entrepreneurship, science, and activism, who are making significant strides in addressing the climate crisis.
Expressing her gratitude, Aki-Sawyerr shared on social media, “I am truly honored to be named in Forbes’ inaugural list of 50 Sustainability Leaders!” She credited her success to collaborative efforts with colleagues in Sierra Leone and internationally, as well as the residents of Freetown, for supporting climate action initiatives.
Her recognition reflects her dedication to sustainability through impactful projects like the #FreetownTheTreetown initiative, which aims to plant one million trees to combat deforestation and urban heat, and other efforts to enhance the city’s environmental resilience.
