“We are ready to work with the Min. of Tourism” – Kao Denero
Sierra Leone’s Entertainment Ambassador, Amara Dennis Turay, popularly known as Kao Denero has said they are committed to working with the Ministry of Tourism to push entertainment foreword in the country. Kao was speaking on behalf of his executive members and other entertainers who formed a delegation to visit the Ministry last week.
The engagement with the Ministry focused on key issues; like using entertainment to promote tourism, growing the comedy and music industries, promoting cultural heritage and a focus on fashion.
“My team and I at the Office of the Ambassador of Entertainment had a successful meeting yesterday with the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the Permanent Secretary. We discussed long-term tourism campaigns, focusing on improving the comedy, fashion, and music industry as way to promote Sierra Leone’s rich cultural heritage,” Kao said.
The meeting highlighted efforts to engage Sierra Leonean diasporas, recognizing their pivotal role in contributing to the growth of the nation’s tourism sector. There was also a strong emphasis on empowering local content, particularly Sierra Leonean music, by ensuring its prominent presence on various platforms.
The Minister proposed the establishment of an entertainment commission, signaling a significant step toward realizing the dreams of entertainers nationwide. A comprehensive report on the National Entertainment Dialogue Conference was presented during the meeting, outlining the challenges faced and proposing recommendations for the industry’s growth.
