APC Reports ‘Encouraging Progress’ in National Unity Talks with Government

The All People’s Congress (APC) says it is making “encouraging progress” in ongoing face-to-face discussions with Government representatives aimed at advancing Sierra Leone’s National Unity agenda.
The talks, which bring together senior officials from both sides, are being led on the Government’s part by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, with the participation of International Moral Guarantors supporting the process.
Key issues under discussion include the implementation of the National Unity Agreement, the recommendations of the Tripartite Committee, and concerns surrounding the appointment of Chief Electoral Commissioner Edmond Sylvester Alpha.
In a brief update, the APC noted that while negotiations remain ongoing, the tone of engagement has been constructive. The party also reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue and pledged to keep its members and supporters informed as discussions progress.
The National Unity talks are seen as a critical step in easing political tensions and fostering cooperation between the ruling government and the main opposition, following disputes arising from recent electoral processes.
No final agreements have been announced, but both sides are expected to continue engagements in the coming days.
