APC’s Mohamed Bangura Announces Upcoming Party Transfer
Mohamed Bangura, the Member of Parliament for Kerena District representing the All People’s Congress (APC), has announced his intention to transfer to a new political party. This revelation was made during an appearance on Radio Democracy’s “Good Morning Salone” program, where he discussed his political journey.
Bangura emphasized that political affiliation should not be treated as a lifelong commitment or a religious obligation. He explained that if his current party fails to align with his goals and objectives, he is open to moving to another party, contrasting his flexibility with the staunch loyalty of some other politicians.
When asked about President Bio’s leadership and the current state of the country, Bangura expressed concern over the worsening economic conditions and the suffering of citizens. He highlighted a recent incident where a constituent at his gate sought financial help for medical expenses, illustrating the dire financial situation faced by many.
Bangura also criticized the high costs faced by businesses and the lack of job opportunities for young people. He pointed to the issue of building collapses, attributing it to inadequate checks on construction materials. He referenced Ghana’s more stringent inspections at ports as a model to improve the quality control of building materials in Sierra Leone.
As a member of Parliament, Bangura pledged to work with the Chairman of the Trade Committee to summon the Minister of Trade for an audit and to implement stricter checks on substandard materials.
