Christian Leaders Calls for Prayer for Peace
Representatives of the Body of Christ in Sierra Leone have issued an urgent notice, calling on Christians nationwide to engage in a dedicated period of prayer from Wednesday, June 19, to Friday, June 21, 2024. This call comes as the country faces numerous challenges, and Christian leaders are urging believers to seek divine intervention for the nation’s well-being.
The notice reads: “As Christian leaders in Sierra Leone, we call on believers in the Lord Jesus who believe in the power of the prayer of faith and in the authority of the Holy Scriptures to intensify our prayers to God for Peace, Quietness, Honesty, Godliness, Love, Unity, Justice, Prosperity, and genuine Patriotism in our nation.”
The leaders emphasized the importance of both personal and corporate prayer during this period, encouraging Christians to set aside extra time for seeking God’s intervention. They are also calling on believers to fast for at least one of the three days and to meditate on specific Scriptures that emphasize prayer and righteousness. The recommended Scriptures include 1 Timothy 2:1-4, Job 22:28, Numbers 14:28, Isaiah 59:16, and Ezekiel 22:30.
“We encourage all believers to engage in extra time of personal and corporate prayer as we seek God for His intervention and reign in Sierra Leone. We speak righteousness, peace, justice, and healing to our people and within our borders in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
