EU Ambassador Müller Farewells Sierra Leone
Manuel Müller, the outgoing EU Ambassador to Sierra Leone, made a final visit to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), where he was warmly received by key officials including Minister Conrad Sackey and Chief Education Officer Yatta Kanu. Reflecting on his tenure, Müller highlighted his early focus on Sierra Leone’s basic education and praised the country’s educational reforms, including the school feeding program and the free quality education initiative. He commended the government’s commitment to long-term educational investment, despite its lack of immediate electoral rewards.
Müller expressed gratitude for the strong partnership with Sierra Leone’s education sector and acknowledged Minister Sackey’s proactive leadership. In response, Minister Sackey lauded Müller’s significant contributions to advancing education in Sierra Leone and wished him well in his future endeavors. As a token of appreciation, the MBSSE presented Müller with a culturally significant gift, which he received with deep affection for Sierra Leone. Müller will return to Germany briefly before taking up a new role in Berlin in 2025, but assured that the EU’s support for Sierra Leone will continue strongly.
