VP Jalloh Launches Solar Mini Grid In Kalangba Town
In a bid to enhance electricity access across Sierra Leone, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh inaugurated a new solar mini grid in Kalangba Town. This development aims to provide hundreds of residents and businesses with reliable and affordable power, aligning with President Bio’s goal of boosting rural energy access.
Paramount Chief PC Shebora Raka III expressed pride in hosting the Vice President and praised his commitment to Lokomasama Chiefdom. He highlighted the benefits of the new facility for the community’s livelihoods, education, and healthcare.
Emmanuel Harding from PowerLeone assured the community of the quality and affordability of the service, emphasizing the role of the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) in ensuring high standards.
Deputy Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Junisa and Hon. Kekura Vandi, Head of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Energy, were present to support the initiative. Deputy Minister Dr. Eldred Taylor acknowledged the community’s support and emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to expanding rural mini grids. He described the Kalangba mini grid as a vital, long-lasting resource for the community.
During the activation ceremony, Vice President Jalloh thanked President Bio for his focus on service delivery and promised that other regions would soon see similar projects. He stressed the importance of electricity in improving education and healthcare and encouraged the community to protect the new mini grid, reinforcing his commitment to their development.
