FANT-Sierra Leone to Expand with More Turfs and Scholarships in 2025
FANT-Sierra Leone has unveiled plans for 2025, focusing on expanding artificial turf facilities and launching a scholarship program for top-performing students.
Project Manager Mamadu “Atto” Bah announced that the organization, in collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority (NSA), and international partners, aims to introduce more artificial turfs nationwide. This initiative will enhance football facilities and promote grassroots development.
In addition, FANT-Sierra Leone will provide scholarships to 12 high-achieving students (six boys and six girls) who excelled in the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The scholarships will support their education in the U.S. while they continue to play football at the collegiate level.
The organization is also launching the Handball for New Destiny (HAND) project in January 2025 to boost female participation in handball. Bah emphasized that this initiative will strengthen the development of female athletes.
FANT-Sierra Leone’s Country Director, Richard Jimmy, expressed gratitude to the government and international partners for their support, noting the significant impact of the Ministry of Sports, NSA, and the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in making these projects a reality.
Through these efforts, FANT-Sierra Leone aims to advance both youth development and sports infrastructure across the country.
