W.A.M Collegiate Wins Western Area Cricket League by 30 Runs
The Western Area Inter-Secondary School Cricket Championship wrapped up on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Kingtom Oval in Freetown, with W.A.M Collegiate emerging victorious by 30 runs over Government Secondary School Kingtom.
W.A.M Collegiate set a target of 117 runs for 8 wickets in 15 overs. Kingtom Secondary responded with 87 runs for 7 wickets, falling short. St. Edward’s Secondary School secured third place after defeating Government Model Secondary School in a strong performance.
This one-month competition, featuring six schools, marked the successful return of the Western Area Cricket League after five years, highlighting the growth of school-level cricket in Sierra Leone. Cricket Sierra Leone now plans to expand the tournament to the Western Rural region in January 2025, with a fan-driven cricket clinic aimed at fostering young talent.
The conclusion of the Western Urban League sets the stage for the next school cricket league, continuing the momentum for youth cricket across the country.
