FTL Donates 100 Benches and Desks to Aberdeen Municipal Junior Secondary School
Freetown Terminal Limited (FTL), a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics (AGL), marked its annual Solidarity Day with a significant philanthropic gesture, donating 100 benches and desks to Aberdeen Municipal Junior Secondary School on Friday, March 14, 2025.
The donation aims to address the school’s pressing need for classroom furniture and enhance the learning environment for students.
During the handover ceremony, FTL General Manager Maroun Abi Aad emphasized the company’s commitment to education as a cornerstone of societal development. “As we celebrate Solidarity Day, we take this opportunity to give back to the community. Education is key to a brighter future, and we hope these desks and benches will help students succeed,” he stated.
Captain Fabjanko Kokan, Country Manager for AGL, underscored the role of education in Africa’s transformation. “We want students to realize their potential. With hard work and dedication, they can change the world,” he said, inspiring attendees.
Teachers and students expressed gratitude for the donation. Senior teacher Victor Rogers highlighted the urgent need for further infrastructural improvements, particularly roof repairs. “This donation is a major boost, but we still require more support,” he said. Principal Peter Manso Samura acknowledged the importance of corporate involvement in education, calling for more partnerships to sustain long-term improvements.
Student representative Andrew Tarawallie thanked FTL for the much-needed furniture. “We promise to use these desks and benches to learn and succeed,” he said, reflecting the students’ enthusiasm.
