Government Issues Latest Update on Suspected MPOX Case
The government has confirmed that lab tests on samples from a deceased patient in the Kono/Tonkolili region have come back negative for the MPOX virus. Although the patient displayed severe symptoms resembling a pox-like illness, the test results have ruled out MPOX as the cause.
Health officials remain dedicated to ongoing investigations to determine the actual cause of the patient’s condition. In the meantime, the public is urged to stay alert, maintain proper hygiene, and report any unusual symptoms to nearby health centers.
