Great Redemption Crusade Launches National Evangelism Campaign in Sierra Leone

The Great Redemption Crusade, in collaboration with the Body of Christ in Sierra Leone, has officially launched its national evangelism program under the theme “Jesus the Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever.” The movement aims to win souls for the Kingdom of God, promote peace, hope, healing, and drive moral and economic renewal across the nation.
The launching ceremony was held on Wednesday, October 8, at the Methodist Church Sierra Leone Women’s Hall, King Harman Road, Brookfields, Freetown. The event brought together church leaders, clergy, Christian organizations, and believers from various denominations to reaffirm their unity in faith and national development.
Delivering the official launching statement, Bishop Benjamin Bangura of the Pentecostal Church in Sierra Leone described the program as more than an ordinary church activity. He called it “the body of Christ in action, the Church in motion, the Kingdom advancing, and the Word of God invading the darkness of the world.”
Bishop Bangura said the Crusade comes at a time when the nation faces spiritual and social challenges. “When hopelessness overshadows hope and when the nation encounters difficulties, the Crusade stands as a triumphant call from heaven to bring the lost into the light and to turn the nation back to God,” he said. The Bishop then officially declared open the Great Redemption Crusade 2025–2026.
Chairman of the Crusade, Pastor Josephus D. Paris, said the initiative is a national call for salvation, healing, restoration, unity, and transformation. He noted that the movement’s purpose is to win souls for Jesus Christ, promote revival, holiness, and purity, and strengthen the work of pastors and local congregations.
Pastor Paris announced that the Crusade will take place from Wednesday, 26th to Sunday, 30th November, 2025, and urged all Christians and communities across the country to actively participate. He revealed that the movement is targeting one million new converts by 2028 and hopes to reach five million by 2030.
“As Sierra Leone continues to rise from its past challenges, this Crusade invites every citizen—regardless of denomination or background to take part,” he said.
Outlining the objectives, Pastor Paris stated that the program seeks to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, encourage pastors through leadership conferences, and build a strong spiritual foundation that will contribute to Sierra Leone’s social and economic restoration.
President of the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone (CCSL), Rev. Henry Abiyoseh Samuel, commended the organizers for fostering unity within the Christian community. He said many believers had long awaited such a movement that demonstrates genuine, not superficial, unity in Christ.
“Unity plays a vital role when the Church and the nation see themselves as one body, just as Jesus declared in the Bible that they may all be one,” Rev. Samuel said. He added that the objectives of the Crusade align with God’s mandate for the Church and assured that the CCSL would fully cooperate to ensure successful evangelistic campaigns across the country.
The Great Redemption Crusade is expected to conduct a series of nationwide activities including mass crusades, revival meetings, and leadership conferences for pastors and church workers. Organizers say these events will form part of a broader effort to promote spiritual renewal, community healing, and national transformation.
The launch ended with prayers and thanksgiving as participants expressed optimism that the Crusade would ignite revival and bring lasting change throughout Sierra Leone.
