IGP Fayia Sellu meets Guinean Defence College delegation

Sierra Leone’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), William Fayia Sellu, welcomed a delegation from the Guinean Defence College on June 24, 2024. Led by Colonel Louis Remy Camara, Director of Training for the Guinean Armed Forces, the delegation expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by IGP Sellu during their study tour in Sierra Leone.

Colonel Camara highlighted the purpose of their visit, noting that the Guinean Defence College, established two years ago, chose Sierra Leone as part of its educational program for the second intake of students. He specifically mentioned the longstanding support and mutual benefits between Guinea and Sierra Leone, citing Sierra Leone’s assistance during a recent fuel crisis in Guinea as a prime example.

IGP Sellu reciprocated the sentiments, praising the enduring friendship between the two nations. He emphasized the historical cooperation between Guinea and Sierra Leone, particularly during Sierra Leone’s civil war when Guinea provided essential support. Sellu also underscored the broader regional collaboration, mentioning the strong partnerships with Liberia and Guinea within INTERPOL.

Expressing his desire for continued exchanges and cooperation, IGP Sellu proposed similar visits among counterparts in the sub-region to enhance knowledge sharing and collaboration for regional peace and development.

The visit concluded with a gesture of appreciation as the delegation was presented with a souvenir, followed by a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
