Jagaban Welcomes Chinese Engineers for Ferry Project in Sierra Leone

APC flagbearer aspirant Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, on Friday welcomed a team of Chinese engineers from the Uniocean Group to Freetown to begin a feasibility study for a new ferry project.
The delegation, received at Abadeen Seacoach, is in Sierra Leone to launch technical studies for what has been dubbed the Jagaban Ferry Project, aimed at improving the country’s sea transport system and strengthening national infrastructure.
According to Jagaban, the project is designed to respond to growing public demand for safe and reliable coastal transport. The planned ferry will have capacity for 500 passengers, 50 cars, and 10 trucks, with separate Business and First Class sections.
Uniocean Group CEO, Lin Ben, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome, stressing his company’s commitment to innovation and international partnership. He confirmed that engineers had already begun a sea tour on October 4 to assess water levels and marine conditions.
Jagaban said the project is expected to be completed within 12 months and will involve the Ministry of Transport and other government bodies to ensure oversight and effective implementation. He emphasized that the ferry will benefit ordinary Sierra Leoneans, including traders particularly women who depend on sea transport for business.
“This project is not for one person, but for the entire country,” Jagaban said, underscoring his pledge to work with the government and citizens to achieve national development.
