New Police Health Centre Opens in North West Region
The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has inaugurated a new Police Health Centre in Lungi, designed to enhance the welfare of officers and their families. This facility will act as a crucial medical hub for the North West Region, ensuring law enforcement personnel have access to quality healthcare.
The opening ceremony featured key stakeholders, including Dr. John Mumuneh Konteh, the Medical Superintendent, who thanked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for expanding medical services. He confirmed that the health centre is fully operational, staffed with qualified medical personnel, and equipped with necessary supplies and laboratory equipment.
The facility includes separate wards for male and female patients, allowing for short-term admissions of up to one week. Dr. Konteh encouraged police officers and their families to use the centre responsibly, highlighting the IGP’s commitment to their welfare and plans for further expansion of medical services nationwide. He also announced a forthcoming initiative where medical expatriates will provide free surgical operations in November 2024.
Regional Commander Joseph Ibrahim Lahai commended the establishment of the health centre, noting that it aligns with the IGP’s vision of prioritizing the health and welfare of police personnel across the country. He reiterated the IGP’s dedication to ensuring equitable access to resources in all regions.
The Regional Commander emphasized the importance of collaboration among medical teams from the SLP, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), and Lungi Government Hospital to achieve shared health objectives.
The opening of the Police Health Centre marks a significant investment in the health and well-being of police officers and their families in the North West Region, demonstrating the SLP’s commitment to prioritizing personnel welfare.
