Sierra Leone: 8th Most Peaceful in Africa 2024
The 2024 Global Peace Index (GPI) report reveals that Sierra Leone has been ranked 8th among the most peaceful African countries. This achievement highlights the nation’s strides in maintaining peace and stability amidst regional challenges.
Mauritius leads Africa as the most peaceful country for 2024, with an overall score of 1.577. It is followed by Madagascar, scoring 1.838, and Botswana with 1.863. Globally, the GPI report notes a troubling rise in conflicts, now at 56, the highest since World War II. These conflicts have increasingly become international, involving 92 countries in disputes beyond their borders—the most since the GPI’s inception.
