Sierra Leone Aquatics Secures Two-Year World Aquatics Scholarship for Moses Sahr Yongai

Sierra Leone Aquatics has secured a two-year international training scholarship for national swimmer Moses Sahr Yongai under the Aqua Olympics Support Program (AOSP), officials confirmed.
The scholarship, approved by World Aquatics, will see Yongai relocate to Bahrain for an intensive high-performance training program scheduled to run through 2028.
According to the federation, the AOSP is designed to support promising athletes from developing swimming nations by providing access to elite coaching, structured competition exposure, and international-standard facilities.
Sierra Leone Aquatics described the award as a significant milestone for the sport, noting that it strengthens the country’s athlete development pathway and signals growing global recognition of local swimming talent.
Yongai’s selection follows his recent performances and continued progression within national competitions, positioning him among the federation’s emerging elite prospects.
Officials say the scholarship is expected to enhance his technical capacity, endurance, and international competitiveness ahead of future regional and global championships.
The federation added that the initiative reflects its broader strategy to build international partnerships and secure long-term development opportunities for Sierra Leonean swimmers.
Yongai is expected to depart for Bahrain in the coming weeks to begin the program.
