SIERRA LEONE DRAWS IN GROUP G OF AFCON

The highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 draw has been released, placing Sierra Leone in Group G alongside Chad, Zambia, and the recent tournament holders, Ivory Coast. This year’s tournament features a total of 48 teams, divided into 12 groups. From each group, two teams will secure automatic qualification for the tournament.
Qualifiers are scheduled to commence in September, with 24 out of the initial 48 teams vying for the prestigious trophy in Morocco. Sierra Leone’s absence in the last edition, hosted in Ivory Coast, was a disappointment after finishing third in their group.
Group G poses a formidable challenge for Sierra Leone, with two former champions of the tournament among its members. This adds to the difficulty as Sierra Leone aims to secure a spot in the final tournament.
AFCON 2025 is set to kick off on December 21st, 2025, and will conclude on January 18th, 2026, promising an exciting competition for football enthusiasts across Africa and beyond.
