Sierra Leone & EU Host Erasmus+ Session
The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE), in partnership with the European Union (EU), hosted an Erasmus+ info session at the Ministry of Finance in Freetown. The event marked the launch of Erasmus+ Champions, representatives who will implement the program in institutions nationwide.
The initiative aims to enhance Sierra Leone’s higher education and human capital. Sia Fasuluku, Erasmus National Focal Point, highlighted the program’s role in skill-building and urged citizens to leverage its opportunities to address local challenges.
Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Ramatulai Wurie, commended the EU’s support, emphasizing Erasmus+ as a platform for mutual empowerment and sustainable educational growth. She encouraged institutions to embrace partnerships with European counterparts for innovation and excellence.
EU delegate Elisa Tesselli, a former Erasmus+ beneficiary, shared insights on the program’s global success, assuring EU support for applicants. Local education leaders, including Dr. Samba Moriba and Osman Turay, lauded the program’s potential to transform education and vocational training in Sierra Leone.
The Erasmus+ program is set to foster international collaboration, empower Sierra Leone’s youth, and advance the nation’s development goals.
