US Imposes Visa Restrictions on Ghana
The US has announced visa restrictions targeting individuals accused of undermining democracy in Ghana, as the country approaches its December elections. The State Department clarified that these restrictions are aimed at specific individuals and not the Ghanaian government or its citizens.
Concerns over the accuracy of the voter roll have led to opposition protests by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which claims unauthorized voter name transfers and removals. With President Akufo-Addo stepping down after two terms, the election is expected to be a tight race between former President John Mahama and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
