Court to examine Ernest Koroma’s medical leave request

The Magistrate court could be set to examine the medical leave application that have been filed on behalf of former President Ernest Bai Koroma. Koroma is facing four count charges bordering on treason in relation to the November 26 coup attempt in Sierra Leone.
Lawyers of the former President has insisted he is innocent. Last week they formally applied to the court to allow their client to travel to Nigeria on medical grounds.
A source within the Koroma camp told Epic Radio that the court will examine the veracity of the application they made and a ruling is expected on that this week. The former President is expected to be in court on Wednesday, 17th January.
Koroma is still appearing in the Magistrate Court as part of the preliminary investigations to ascertain whether the state has enough evidence to take this case to a trial. Once that is established then the case could proceed to a higher court.
