NCRA Announces Biometric ID Card Price Increase Effective February 23

The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) has announced an increase in the cost of all categories of its multi-purpose and securitized biometric identity cards, citing currency fluctuations and rising global production costs.
In a public notice signed by Director General Mohamed Mubashir Massaquoi, the Authority said the new prices will take effect on February 23, 2026. The adjustment follows consultations with stakeholders and is in line with a 2022 parliamentary agreement between the Government of Sierra Leone and Constrat Systems SL Ltd.
According to the NCRA, the review was prompted by shifting exchange rates at the Bank of Sierra Leone and increasing international costs for materials used in the production of high-security biometric cards. Management stated that the adjustment is intended to prevent supply chain disruptions and guarantee the continued availability of the cards, which have been in circulation since January 2023.
Under the revised fee structure, the cost of a National ID card will increase from SLL 145.00 to SLL 165.00. The Non-National ID card will now cost SLL 2,305.00. ECOWAS National ID cards have been adjusted to SLL 280.00, while ECOWAS Non-National cards will cost SLL 465.00.
The NCRA assured the public that card production and issuance services will remain fully operational at all official centres nationwide despite the price adjustment.
