Office of the Law Clerk Presents First Session Report to Speaker Thomas

The Office of the Law Clerk, led by Director Abdul Rahim Sowe, has presented its First Session Report to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, in compliance with Section 33 of the Parliament Act of 2023.

The report, covering activities from August 3, 2023, to August 6, 2024, details the Office’s role in legislative processes, including bill scrutiny, constitutional instruments, statutory instruments, treaties, and conventions ratified by Parliament. Director Sowe assured Speaker Thomas that the report also highlights challenges and recommendations aimed at improving efficiency.

The presentation, held in the Speaker’s office, was attended by the Clerk of Parliament, Hon. Param Umar Tarawally. Speaker Thomas commended Director Sowe and his team for their contributions and reaffirmed Parliament’s support for the Office of the Law Clerk.

Established under Section 30 of the Parliament Act, 2023, the Office of the Law Clerk is a specialized unit within the Parliamentary Service, mandated to provide legal advice, legislative research, and procedural support to Parliament.
