UNOPS Refurbishes Parliamentary Ramp
The Parliament of Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), has officially commissioned a newly renovated accessibility ramp and pedestrian bridge, enhancing mobility for staff, visitors, and physically challenged individuals.
The project funded by the European Union and implemented by UNOPS, included critical renovations to the walkway bridge connecting the Administration Building to the Old Building and other parliamentary precincts.
Deputy Clerk of Parliament, Mr. Gilbert Bosco N’habay, commended UNOPS for their swift intervention, noting that the bridge had previously posed a safety risk. “The walkway bridge was a deathtrap, but its renovation is timely and much needed,” he stated. “On behalf of the Leadership of Parliament, we extend our appreciation to UNOPS for their invaluable support in nation-building.”
The upgraded infrastructure is expected to improve accessibility and safety within Parliament, ensuring a more inclusive environment for all users.
