President Julius Maada Bio Honored with Distinguished Service Order in Liberia

President Dr. Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has been awarded the Distinguished Service Order by His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., President of Liberia, in recognition of his military leadership and contributions to regional peace. The honor was bestowed during Liberia’s 68th Armed Forces Day celebration at the Barclay Training Centre in Monrovia.

President Boakai commended President Bio for his dedication to international security, stating that his service brings pride to his nation and the Armed Forces of Liberia. He also expressed gratitude for Bio’s presence as the first sitting president to serve as the Guest and Keynote Speaker at the annual event.

In his keynote address, President Bio emphasized the role of professional and disciplined armed forces in maintaining sustainable peace and democratic governance. He urged the Liberian military to uphold human rights, collaborate with civil institutions, and remain committed to democratic values.

“The people of Liberia look to you with trust. The region looks to you with expectation, and history will remember you for upholding the principles of peace, justice, and democracy,” President Bio stated.

President Boakai reaffirmed Liberia’s support for Sierra Leone and called on national and international partners to strengthen Liberia’s military in ensuring regional stability.
