Sierra Leonean U.K Pilgrims Arrive in Madinah
The first batch of 58 Sierra Leonean Hajj pilgrims based in the United Kingdom have safely landed at the Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah (Islam’s second holiest city) via Gulf Air, at 12:10 KSA Time.
The second batch of 110 pilgrims from the UK will arrive in Madinah on May 28, whilst the final batch of 63 will touch down in Madinah on May 29, totaling 231 Sierra Leonean pilgrims from the UK.
The pilgrims are presently being allocated a hotel, which is a short walk from Masjid Nabawi (the Prophet’s Mosque) where they will be offering their five daily prayers as well as performing ‘Ziyarah’, visiting the Prophet’s tomb in Masjid Quba, the first mosque in Islam’s history. The pilgrims will visit other historical sites in the city before proceeding to Makkah for this year’s Hajj.
Meanwhile, a total of 600 Sierra Leonean home-based pilgrims are expected to depart the Freetown International Airport on May 28 and 29 respectively. Each of the flights will carry 300 passengers.
