In a move to ease financial burdens among students, a student savings loan initiative led by Miss Sara M. Kamara, CEO and Founder of Students Entrepreneurs Network, Sierra Leone (SEN/SL), is set to empower 118 students. Miss Kamara, also serving as the Minister of Entrepreneurship for the IPAM Student Union Government, recently introduced the initiative, which has been operational for the past three years.

The initiative’s primary goal is to cultivate a culture of savings among students while providing them a pathway to financial independence. Participants have the opportunity to save annually, benefiting from a minimum interest rate of 10%. This structure aims to foster a habit that promotes long-term financial stability and growth. Miss Kamara emphasized the dual advantages of the scheme, highlighting its profitability and its potential to empower students.

“To enroll in the initiative,” Miss Kamara explained, “students are required to purchase a registration form priced at Le20 and maintain a passbook for tracking their savings progress.
