Tensions escalated at the Southern Arena on Sunday as a section of Bo Rangers supporters staged a public protest calling for the immediate sacking of head coach John Keister, despite the team’s 2-1 victory over Star Sport Academy.

Chanting “Keister must go!” and holding placards with messages like “Bo Rangers deserve better,” dozens of fans voiced their frustration at what they described as underwhelming performances and tactical shortcomings under the current management. The protest highlights growing discontent among a vocal segment of the fanbase, who argue that the team has failed to meet expectations despite recent successes.

“This is bigger than a single result,” said one protesting fan. “The football lacks passion, the tactics are questionable, and the identity of Bo Rangers is fading under Keister. He’s won trophies, yes, but the performances have become stale.”

John Keister, a former Sierra Leone national team coach, is currently in his second season with Bo Rangers. Since taking charge, he has led the team to four major domestic titles, including the Leone Rock Premier League (2023/24), the FA Cup, the Community Shield, and the 2024 Super Cup. Nevertheless, critics argue that the team’s playing style has stagnated and claim there is a growing disconnect between the coach and supporters.

Sunday’s win keeps Bo Rangers in contention for the league title, but many fans remain unconvinced. Their concerns are not just about results, but the manner in which the team is playing.

Club officials have not yet released an official statement regarding the protest, but sources close to the board suggest an emergency meeting may be convened in the coming days to address the unrest.

With the league entering a decisive stage, the Bo Rangers hierarchy faces a critical decision: continue backing a proven but embattled coach, or respond to the increasingly loud demands of a frustrated fanbase.
