The second phase of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League is set to kick off this weekend, reigniting the nation’s premier women’s football competition after a brief mid-season break.

Organizers confirmed that all participating clubs are ready to resume action following the conclusion of the first round, which was marked by strong performances, increasing fan engagement, and notable improvements in team organization and media coverage.

Defending champions Mogbwemo Queens will begin the second half of the campaign at the top of the table, but face mounting pressure from title challengers including Ram Kay FC, Kahunla Queens, FC Kallon Female, and Sierra Leone People Female Team. These clubs have used the mid-season interval to reinforce their squads and fine-tune tactical approaches, setting the stage for a highly competitive run-in.

League officials say they expect increased attendance and enthusiasm from fans as the league continues to gain momentum. “This phase is crucial for all the teams,” said a spokesperson from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). “The competition is wide open, and we anticipate even more excitement as we push toward the final rounds.”

Several individual players are also under the spotlight, including leading goal scorers and promising young talents who emerged during the first half of the season. Coaches are expected to adopt more strategic game plans as the race for the title intensifies.

The Women’s Premier League, launched as part of broader efforts to promote gender equality in sports, has become a platform for emerging talent and a source of inspiration for young girls nationwide. Organizers and stakeholders are urging the public to support the competition, which they describe as vital for the development of women’s football in Sierra Leone.

Fixtures for the weekend will be released by the SLFA later this week, with matches scheduled to take place across multiple venues.
