Senegal FA Rejects CAF Decision, Heads to Global Sports Court

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has strongly rejected a controversial ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Board, describing the decision as unfair, unprecedented, and unacceptable.
The dispute stems from CAF’s decision to award the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to Morocco as a 3–0 forfeit, despite Senegal claiming they had secured victory on the pitch.
In a strongly worded statement, the FSF said the ruling undermines the credibility and integrity of African football. The federation argued that such a decision damages the reputation of the continental governing body and raises serious concerns about fairness in major competitions.
As a result, Senegal’s football authorities have announced that they will immediately take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, seeking an independent review of the ruling.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Senegal says it will continue with planned celebrations. The national team is scheduled to face Peru in a special international match on March 28 in Paris, where the team hopes to share the moment with supporters and reaffirm their belief that they earned the title on the field.
The FSF has made its position clear: it will challenge CAF’s decision at the highest level and will not surrender the trophy until the matter is fully resolved through the global sports arbitration system.
The case is now expected to draw significant attention across the football world, as it could set an important precedent for how disputes in African football are handled at the international level.
